I believe we need to employ creative solutions and work together to build economically vibrant communities that people want to move to and our children want to stay in. I grew up in Bethel and have worked for years bringing people with differing points of view together to address our challenges. As your representative and as a member of the Committee on Commerce and Economic Development, I will use my skills and experience to:

• Employ creative solutions to the shrinking of our communities and the flight of our youth.

• Restore affordability by addressing such issues as the high cost of health insurance, lack of affordable housing, opiate addiction, rising costs of childcare, and lack of workforce to fill essential jobs.

• Rebuild an economy that puts Vermonters back to work with decent-paying jobs and empowers the economic, cultural, and social revitalization of our small towns

• Ensure Vermonters' personal data is kept safe and private and enhance consumer protections against scams and fraud.

• Continue expanding access to affordable childcare and early childhood education.

• Increase healthcare access for all while bringing costs under control.

• Protect our small schools and create equitable, fair, and sustainable funding solutions.

• Preserve our working landscapes with sensible land use rules that protect our vital resources and encourage affordable housing while still allowing Vermont’s agricultural economy to thrive.

• Fight the climate crisis in a way that builds economic opportunities and ensures a healthy future. After all, addressing the climate crisis is good for tourism, attracting young families, promoting clean jobs, and building community resilience. 
  
  This past session we made progress on these issues but there is still a lot of work to be done.
